Tourism Cares
WRTA's Official Philanthropy

The World Religious Travel Association is proud to name Tourism Cares as its official philanthropy. Together with Tourism Cares, we share the same belief of preserving the travel experience for future generations. To learn more about the mission of Tourism Cares, visit www.tourismcares.org.

Tourism Cares for America 2010
On behalf of WRTA I encourage you to experience the feeling of giving back by participating in this year’s Tourism Cares for America event. The project will be held on historic Angel Island in San Francisco Bay June 3-5. Come and work alongside hundreds of travel industry professionals to rehabilitate various recreational areas and trails across the island.

More than 300 volunteers, many of them members of WRTA, have gathered each year at events beginning with Ellis Island in 2003, Whether you have been to all, a few, or plan to make Angel Island your first give back event, you’ll have an experience of a lifetime on San Francisco Bay.

Tourism Cares for America is all about rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands dirty for a great cause. They have jobs from light work to heavy lifting.  You choose.

So, plan to join your WRTA friends and me as the travel industry gets together to “give back” on Angel Island. If you can’t make it because of other commitments, please consider some other ways you can help. Be a sponsor, encourage your friends, send others from your company, put your logo on the official t-shirt or become an Angel.

Sincerely,
Kevin J. Wright

What is the Mission of Tourism Cares?
To preserve the travel experience for future generations.

About Tourism Cares

Tourism Cares was formed by the combining of the National Tourism Foundation, founded by the National Tour Association in 1982, and the Travelers Conservation Foundation, founded in 1999 by the United States Tour Operators Association. The resulting non-profit organization benefits society by preserving the travel experience for future generations through awarding grants to natural, cultural and historic sites worldwide; by presenting academic and service-focused scholarships to hospitality and tourism students; and by organizing volunteer efforts to restore tourism-related sites in need of care and rejuvenation.

How can you support, and get involved,  with Tourism Cares at the annual World Religious Travel Expo?

Put on your dancing shoes for Tourism Cares’  “Tourism Rocks” dance party! Sponsored by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, the Nevada Commission on Tourism and Hard Rock, Tourism Rocks is a night of fun and a great way to meet new people in an informal setting.  The party will be happening at a Europe-inspired nightclub called 210 North, located in the heart of downtown Reno. It’s unlike any other setting in northern Nevada. Tickets can be purchased for a tax-deductible donation of $40 by clicking here http://bit.ly/ExpoTourismCares or at the door by showing your WRTA Expo badge.  All donations will help to further the mission of Tourism Cares.
